According to Sözcü’s report, after it was revealed that a mustache was drawn on the poster, the police took action and initiated a thorough examination and investigation using the security cameras of nearby businesses and MOBESE cameras. M.K., whose identity was determined through camera examination, was arrested and detained by the Juvenile Court on charges of insulting the President.

M.K., who spent approximately 40 days in Tarsus Juvenile Closed Execution Institution, appeared in the first hearing at the Mersin Juvenile Court. During the hearing, the young person stated that he drew the mustache on the billboard for humor purposes and that he did not intend to insult the President. He requested his release. After conducting the trial, the court found M.K. guilty of the offense of “insult” based on the images and documents in the case file, and sentenced him to 1 year and 3 months in prison.

Taking into account the time M.K. spent in custody, the court decided to release him.
