The lives of 793 innocent people were commemorated with the participation of many distinguished guests in a key event organized by AST

Advocates of Silenced Turkey (AST)* has organized a key event called Commemoration for the Persecuted Lives in Turkey and Art Exhibition to honor Turkey’s oppressed and silenced people. In the event, 793 people who innocently died following the unlawful and illegitimate persecutions of the staged-bloody-failed July 15 coup attempt in 2016 commemorated.

Twenty distinguished speakers, including journalists, authors, and activists, participated in the program. They shared their memoirs and commentaries on the commemoration event of 793 people who innocently died.

In this program, 20 works of artistic production of Ummu Korkun, who is a political asylum seeker in Germany and worked as an art teacher for more than 20 years, were represented. In addition, more than 100 artworks of the current Turkish political prisoners were also auctioned in the program. The profit made from the auction was also decided to be used for different campaigns like photo albums in both English and Turkish and a documentary dedicated to the lives of 793 people who innocently died.

* AST is a 501(c)(3) Not for Profit charitable and educational organization based in NJ exclusively for defending human and civil rights and addresses all human rights violations in Turkey regarding civil, political, economic, social, and cultural as contained in the basic human rights documents.
