Rusya Ends ‘Grain Corridor Agreement’

Russia has announced the termination of the Grain Corridor Agreement, which allowed for the export of Ukrainian grain. President Erdogan stated that he will discuss the extension of the agreement with Russian leader Putin.

Russia has announced the termination of the Grain Corridor Agreement, which allowed for the export of Ukrainian grain.

The Kremlin stated that Russia would return to the agreement if its demands were met. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, “When the part of the Black Sea agreement that concerns Russia is implemented, Russia will immediately return to the implementation of the agreement.”

Russia informed Ukraine of the termination of the agreement through its ambassador in Belarus.

Boris Gryzlov, the Russian ambassador to Belarus, stated that a note was sent to Ukraine through diplomatic channels from the embassy, and the agreement would be terminated starting from July 18.

Germany has called on Moscow to extend the agreement.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he will discuss the continuation of the agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In a statement before his Gulf tour, Erdogan said, “Despite today’s announcement, I believe that my friend President Putin wants the continuation of this humanitarian bridge.”

Erdogan stated that they have intensified diplomatic efforts in this regard, saying, “Our Foreign Minister will have discussions with his counterpart. I will have a meeting with President Putin as soon as I return from the trip. When we meet in August, we will discuss all these developments.”

The agreement, reached with Turkey’s mediation, expires at midnight tonight.

Under the agreement, Ukraine exported approximately 33 million tons of corn, wheat, and other grains.

Ukraine and Russia are among the world’s largest grain exporters.
