Özkan Uğur, who was one of Turkey’s leading artists, has passed away.

Ugur Ozkan was born on October 17, 1953, in Istanbul. He began his music career as a bass guitarist in the Şerif Yüzbaşıoğlu Orchestra. Later, he was part of important groups such as Kaygısızlar and Kurtalan Ekspres. In the 1980s, he gained great fame as a member of the Mazhar-Fuat-Özkan (MFÖ) group. He has contributed to many hit songs with MFÖ and represented Turkey in Eurovision.

Özkan Uğur also had an acting career. He appeared in significant Turkish films such as Eşkıya, G.O.R.A., and Yahşi Batı. He also appeared in television series such as İkinci Bahar and Türk Malı.

In 2013, Uğur was diagnosed with lymph cancer and was known to have successfully overcome cancer three times. However, his cancer recurred recently, and he was admitted to the hospital for treatment in the intensive care unit. Unfortunately, despite approximately one month of treatment, his health did not improve, and he passed away at the age of 69.

Uğur’s wife, Aysun Aslan Uğur, and his son, Alişan Uğur, stated in their announcement that they were hopeful for good news, but his health deteriorated. Uğur’s death has caused great sadness in the art community, where he had a large fan base.

Özkan Uğur left a significant mark on the Turkish art world with his achievements in music and acting, creative compositions, and unique stage performances. His contributions to music and the arts will be remembered as unforgettable.
