The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, made a written statement regarding the fifth meeting of the “Turkey-US Strategic Mechanism. In a statement regarding the meeting between the Turkish and US delegations, it was stated, “We reaffirm our strong support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine in the face of Russia’s unacceptable war.”
The statement reported that Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Burak Akçapar and US Assistant Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland led the delegations of the two countries, who met in Washington on June 23. It was emphasized that the two countries “reiterated their commitment to further deepening strong cooperation in areas of mutual interest as NATO members and partner countries.”
The statement further mentioned, “The parties have committed to expanding bilateral political, defense, and security consultations at all levels and strengthening their comprehensive partnership in line with the strategic interests of both countries. The parties have reached a consensus that Turkey-US defense and security cooperation contributes to regional peace and have discussed progress regarding Turkey’s request for the modernization of its F-16 fleet.”
